Newnham College was deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Florence Hui (NC 1997). Florence came to Newnham to take part in the prestigious MBA programme with the Judge Business School. Her potential was so evident that she gained a full scholarship due to her already extensive academic achievements. Her determination to excel was clear from her continual presence in the library, where her immensely impressive reading speed was particularly memorable to those who met her. Florence continued to put the knowledge she had gained during her time at Newnham to work in her extraordinary career. It was of no surprise to anyone who knew her in Cambridge that she was known for her passion and commitment to her work. Her zeal for promoting and celebrating the arts and culture in the Hong Kong community were clear to anyone lucky enough to talk to her.   

Florence was a popular student, both at Newnham and with members of other Colleges who she met through her course. She was also a wonderful alumna, enjoying alumnae events in Hong Kong and always offering a warm welcome to visitors from College. She will be deeply missed by the alumnae community, and by members of College who had the privilege to meet her.
